As far as JDM Wheels Collaborations go, the Watanabe RS8 has to be the greatest one. Two of the oldest JDM Wheel manufacturers, Watanabe Wheels and SSR Wheels (Speedstar Racing), came together to create the Watanabe RS Eight by SSR Wheels. The Watanabe RS8 is a two piece wheel featuring the signature Watanabe 8 banana spoke design bolted to a 16 bolt SSR Barrel. Pictured here is a test fit of a small diameter octagon Watanabe center cap mated to the Watanabe RS Eight, which ironically actually is not the correct part; however it did fit and look great.

The RS Watanabe FORGED Mg are lesser known JDM Wheels from the wheel maker. The RS Watanabe FORGED Mg feature lightweight Magnesium construction and a simple 10 spoke design. The RS Watanabe FORGED Mg were available in silver and gold and in 19×9 and 19×8 wheel sizes. The wheels also have a hefty price tag of about $1200 per wheel 20 years ago which could roughly be $2000 a wheel in today’s economy. Racing Service Watanabe is probably one of the first names that comes to mindwhen it comes to Old School JDM Wheels.The most noteable is The Watanabe Type R with its 8 spoke Banana type design and deep dish. The Watanabe GR-8 was is now a historic wheel that inspired the XXR 002. The Watanabe Stellar is a JDM Wheel that I actually have never seen before. For an added price, the 8 spoke models are not only available in aluminum, but also Magnesium Wheels.
