The GALE LS636 are one of the classic JDM Wheels to hit the US Market in the 1990’s; back then and even now we just call them GALES. What makes the GALE LS636 a bit different, is they had better distribution than other JDM wheels at the time, which made them more popular. The GALE LS636 features a 10 spoke face with lugnut hidden behind a center ring and hex cap; a popular faux centerlock design very popular at the time. At the time of print, the GALE LS636 were available in sizing up to 16x8j and in 4 different colors. Shown above are the GALE’s mounted on a S13 Nissan Silvia. The PIAA Nakajima Racing Type R Limited are JDM Wheels made in Japan by Enkei Wheels. Most noted for their line of premium lighting, PIAA also has a nice line of JDM Wheels. The PIAA Nakajima Racing Type R Limited feature a classic 5 spoke design, and also feature 2 piece construction. The Work Ewing RS Gamma and the Work Ewing RS Alpha are both JDM Wheels made in Japan by Work Wheels. The Work Ewing RS Gamma have a 5 spoke design and feature welded 2 piece construction. The Work Ewing RS Alpha also have a 5 spoke design and feature welded 2 piece construction. The interesting thing is the Work Ewing RS Gamma looks lie the negative of the Work Ewing RS Alpha. The Hiro V-1 are Old School JDM Wheels made by SSR Wheels. The SSR Hiro V-1 are 3 spoke wheels, with triple curved spokes and feature the Speedstar Racing magnetic locking center cap system. SSR Wheels Hiro V-1 feature 2 piece construction with the face bolted on to a welded barrel. Hiro Engineering is the firm that produces the V-1 and also carried a full line of Aero including the HIRO Super Silhoutte Kit line of aero pieces.
The 5zigen 5ZR Copse are JDM Wheels made by Rays Engineering. The 5zigen 5zr Copse feature a 5 spoke design in 2 piece construction with the face bolted to the barrel. The interesting thng is is that most 5zigen wheels are one piece and not made by Rays Engineering, which makes the 5ZR Copse the special set. The Nismo LM GT3 and the Nismo LM GT4 are forged JDM Wheels made by Rays Engineering. The Nismo LM GT3 are one piece forged wheels with a simple 5 spoke design. The GT4 Rays Engineering are two piece wheels with the faces bolted to the wheel. With Nismo, short for Nissan Motorsport, the factory tuning division for Nissan, the Nismo LM GT3 are mounted on a Nissan Skyline GTR R33and the Nismo LM GT4 on a Nissan Silvia S15.
The Enkei GTV G’SPEC are JDM Wheels that we actually got here in the states as the Stillen GTV. The Enkei GTV G’SPEC / Stillen GTV feature 2 piece construction with the 5 spoke faces bolted to aluminum barrels. The Enkei GTV G’SPEC / Stillen GTV were available in sizes from 17×8 to 18×10.
