The RE Amemiya AW-7 are classic JDM Wheels suited mostly to the FD3s Mazda RX7. The The RE Amemiya AW-7 features 2 piece construction, and manufactured by Enkei Wheels in Japan. The The RE Amemiya AW-7 were available in Gold, Silver, Red or White; in sizes from 17×7 up to 18×10.5. Less commonly known are the RE Amemiya AW-8 which were smaller in size, and also in 4×100 commonly fitted to the Mazda Miata. The RS Watanabe FORGED Mg are lesser known JDM Wheels from the wheel maker. The RS Watanabe FORGED Mg feature lightweight Magnesium construction and a simple 10 spoke design. The RS Watanabe FORGED Mg were available in silver and gold and in 19×9 and 19×8 wheel sizes. The wheels also have a hefty price tag of about $1200 per wheel 20 years ago which could roughly be $2000 a wheel in today’s economy. The Yokohama ALMEX Y3A & Yokohama ALMEX Y3B are Old School JDM Wheels which date back from the 1980’s. The ALMEX Y3A and ALMEX Y3B both feature multi piece construction and were available in 13″ and 14″ diameters. The Yokohama ALMEX Y3A featured a mesh face design while the Yokohama ALMEX Y3B has a 4 spoke cross design.
The Volk Racing TE37 by Rays Engineering are one of the quintessential jdm wheels for motorsport. The Volk Racing TE37 features lightweight forged construction and a simple and recognizable 6 spoke design. Special versions of the Volk Racing TE37 at the time, were the Volk Racing TE37 MAG, which was made from Magnesium as opposed of aluminum and featured the famous MAG Blue finish. The Watanabe RS8 / Watanabe RS Eight are JDM Wheels made by SSR Wheels aka Speedstar Racing. The Watanabe RS8 also referred to as the SSR RS8 are 2 piece wheels with a removable face bolted in to an aluminum barrel. As the name implies, the Watanabe RS8 has the classic Watanabe wheels 8 spoke design.
